Who I Am and What I Do
Hi, i'm Nicole Ioannou, a certified Naturopath and member of both Australian Natural Therapies Association (ANTA) and Naturopaths & Herbalists Association Australia
My journey with Complementary Alternative medicine began in my early 20s after witnessing the struggles of my loved ones who battled chronic conditions unsuccessfully with conventional medicinal approaches. I myself suffered with acne most of my life, until I took matters into my own hands and dedicated myself to develop a greater understanding to natural therapies and there abilities to heal. My own experience initiated a personal endeavour to provide more options to others in their own pursuit to achieve optimal health. I am passionate & dedicated to holistic health and I strive to both educate and empower my clients so they live better and healthier lives. I aim to apply personalized treatments for my clients, assessing their own individual needs. I have a genuine passion & perseverance for wellbeing and maintaining a high level of integrity in my clinical practice.
What is Naturopathy
Naturopathic medicine is both a science & philosophy that focuses on the body's own fundamental & natural ability to heal itself, given the right conditions and environment are provided. The role of a Naturopath is to support the body's own innate healing mechanisms through the use of diet, lifestyle, herbal & nutritional intervention. The ideal to "First do no harm" is one of the key principles of any Naturopathic practice, thus non-toxic & non-invasive therapies are encompassed to promote and enable healing within each individual. Naturopathic interventions also promote prevention based health care by focusing on all aspects of a client's presentation & circumstance. Constitutional susceptibility, genetic tendencies, environmental factors as well as dietary and lifestyle considerations, are closely evaluated to reduce the risk of disease progression or the potential development of any future or relative condition.
What to expect from a Consultation
How it works
Initial consultations are usually 60 minutes and are structured to review the person’s entire health status, genetic predisposition, dietary patterns, lifestyle and family history.
Upon booking the initial consultation a questionnaire is emailed out to you prior to the first appointment enabling you to provide a detailed history of your health including all medications, supplements, eating habits & health goals. It is vital you take the time to complete this questionnaire and consider what it is that has bought you to see the practitioner. This ensures your time together in the consultation is utilized best to your concerns. The initial consultation fee also includes the time taken after your appointment for your practitioner to prepare a detailed treatment plan and specific dietary advice.
These are presented to you at the next follow up appointment
Pathology or functional testing may be required at this stage & i will also provide you with a diet diary to complete.
I will analyse all the data collected during our first consultation, and present you with a comprehensive holistic treatment plan tailored to your body and your needs at the next follow up appointment.
What is a Follow Up consultation
Follow up appointments are structured to monitor the effectiveness of your naturopathic prescription and treatment progress. They are scheduled bi-monthly initially until your symptoms reduce/subside and are then scheduled less frequently ( monthly or longer) once your health has regained balance and stabilized. Your follow up appointment schedule will depend on the complexity of your case and the time taken to reduce symptoms and address underlying factors.
What is TFH Kinesiology
How it works
TFH Kinesiology uses muscle testing as a method of biofeedback to identify imbalances in the body's energy system. Our brain controls & commands all our body functions (like a computer). Since 90% of our brain functions occur in the subconscious, such as the Autonomous Nervous System (like a software) which acts largely unconsciously and regulates bodily functions ( respiratory rate, digestion, heart rate etc.) it is considered the primary mechanism in control of our fight-or-flight (stress response). For example when you have a wound on the skin, the body automatically heals itself, you are not consciously telling it to do so, it has the ability and knowledge (or program) to do so itself. The subconscious also stores our memories & past experiences, our core beliefs, habits and behaviors.
The muscles are used as a biofeedback system to identify the underlying cause of blockage from the person's subconscious mind via the nervous system. Muscle monitoring is used to access information from the bio-computer (the brain and the subconscious mind) in relation to the problem and also guides the practitioner to choose the priority correction in order to stimulate the person's innate healing capacity and supporting their physiology to return to normal function.
What is Muscle Monitoring
How it works
It is a natural feedback mechanism using a muscle as a communication tool (indicator) that supplies information through an information pathway via the central nervous system and the meridian system in the brain and the body. As all muscles are connected to the brain by biofeedback through our central nervous system,
muscle monitoring can indicate a stress, whether conscious or subconscious, in some area or function of the mind/body/spirit system identifying the underlying cause of the problem, disease, behavioural pattern, sensitivities to food etc.
Monitoring a muscle response can indicate stress directly to the muscle itself or its associated organ/gland/meridian system as identified by the Chinese meridian system .
What to expect from a TFH Kinesiology session
How it works
Kinesiology’s effective results come from working with the body’s innate healing intelligence. This improves neurological and physiological function.
You’ll receive a full health check and interview in the first session which is 90 minutes. Each session begins with setting treatment goals and a review of progress. Each session will last 60-90 minutes. Clients are fully clothed and awake on a massage table. Muscle testing finds the relevant issues and systems to work on. Then it guides the choice of techniques.Although a standard procedure is followed, each treatment is unique with regard to the activation of specific acupressure points, neuro-lymphatic massage points, neuro-vascular holding points and/or meridian tracing and other reset techniques.
